Uniforms

All boys and Pack Leaders wear a scouting uniform for our
regular meetings. For the boys this instills a feeling of belonging together, and reminds them of the level of behavior that is expected of a Scout. For the adult leader it sets a good example for the boys, and instills a sense of authority at meetings and events.

Cub Scouts Need To Buy:
  • Shirt*
  • Cub Scout Belt
  • Hat for the Scout's Rank (Tiger, Wolf, Bear or Webelos)
  • Handbook for the Scout's Rank**  (Tiger, Wolf, Bear or Webelos)
Pack 199 Provides To Scouts:
  • All Uniform Patches
  • Awards
  • Neckerchief and Slide
Optional Items:
  • Cub Scout socks
  • Cub Scout shorts or pants
*The blue Cub Scout shirt is appropriate for ALL levels of cub scouts, including Webelos. The tan Boy Scout shirt can be worn by Webelos, especially for boys that are outgrowing their blue shirt, or are joining Cub Scouts in the Webelos level. Most boys switch to the tan shirt around the end of the 4th grade. If the tan shirt is worn, please purchase a pair of blue shoulder loops as well.

We do not require the boys to wear the official pants or socks, but blue pants/short are preferred.  Pants/shorts should have belt loops, as most awards are placed on the belt.  If a tan shirt is worn, green pants/shorts should be worn.

For outdoor events and camp, we recommend our "Class B" uniform, which is a Pack 199 t-shirt, available for purchase at most Pack meetings ($15).  It is available in youth and adult sizes.

Patches can be sewn on the uniform (by hand or by machine).  You may wish to find a tailor or seamstress who can do the job.  Alternatively, you can purchase Badge Magic iron-on strips at the Scout shop.
